Inspiration

Here are some of my favorite quotes. Many mirror the work of my clients and all of them remind me to lean into the adventure and the unknown…even when it’s hard and scary. YES!!!

It may be when we no longer know what to do, we have come to our real work, and that when we no longer know which way to go, we have begun our real journey. – Wendell Berry

Happiness is a journey, not a destination…for a long time, it seemed to me that life was about to begin: Real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be got through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life. This perspective has helped me to see there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way. So treasure every moment you have and remember that time waits for no one. – Souza

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity. – Albert Einstein

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. – Mark Twain

Live your questions now, and perhaps even without knowing it, you will live along some distant day into your answers. – Rainer Maria Rilke

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now. – Goethe

It’s impossible said pride. It’s risky said experience. It’s pointless said reason. Give it a try whispered the heart. – Author Unknown

We must let go of the life we had planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us. – Joseph Campbell

And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. – Anaïs Nin

Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right. – Henry Ford

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference – Reinhold Niebuhr

If we are painstaking about this phase of our development, we will be amazed before we are half way through. We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness. We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it. We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace. No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others. That feeling of uselessness and selfpity will disappear. We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows. Self-seeking will slip away. Our whole attitude and outlook upon life will change. Fear of people and of economic insecurity will leave us. We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us. We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves.

Are these extravagant promises? We think not. They are being fulfilled among us—sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. They will always materialize if we work for them. – The Promises of the 12 Steps, Alcoholics Anonymous

Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
